a connection of the campus center and historic academic quad of wellesley college through a landscape intervention, acting as a framework for the interaction of students and the creation of a lasting link through the adjacent campus.
analyzing key zones of occupation along the current campus circulation paths allowed for particular patterns to be defined as applicable zones for intervention. the hillside directly adjacent to the jewett arts center accepted an intersection to occur among these zones. the new intersection becomes an armature for unity and interaction among the students on campus. each zone is defined by its relative height and its entry into the site, while landscaped retaining elements are utilized as the scheme for rest. the design flows across the hillside, opening up each side of campus to a unique new center of interaction.
